Winning Vlaamse Programmeerwedstrijd 2026

Taking first place at the Vlaamse Programmeerwedstrijd 2026 was a big milestone in my student journey. The contest focused on algorithmic problem solving under time pressure, parsing input efficiently, handling edge cases correctly, and optimizing logic when every minute mattered.

I worked alongside strong teammates, Teoman Palit and Farooq Khwaja. The result was not just about solving problems fast, but also about staying calm, communicating clearly, and making good technical decisions under pressure.

Good engineering choices usually reduce future confusion before they reduce current effort.

Competitions like this are valuable because they expose the gap between knowing concepts and applying them cleanly when time is limited. They force you to think carefully about correctness, performance, and edge cases all at once.
